EMERGE ADDS BRANDON FLOWERS, ACTIVIST WHITNEY BELL TO 2019 LINEUP

Brandon Flowers, frontman for Las Vegas rock band The Killers, will headline Emerge's 2019 edition, the "music and impact festival" announced today.

The 37-year-old singer will perform as part of the fest's Protest showcase, which will also feature rapper Talib Kweli, Parkland school shooting survivors Emma Gonzalez and David Miles Hogg, French-Chilean musician Ana Tijoux, New Orleans group Tank and the Bangas and Nahko, leader of Nahko and Medicine for the People.

According to today's press release, Flowers' set will include "a compelling performance of [The Killers'] anthemic, passionately critical 'The Land of the Free,' complete with full choir."

Also added to the second-year event—scheduled for May 31 and June 1 at the Hard Rock Hotel—are feminist activist Whitney Bell and a pair of LA-based music acts, Luna Aura and The Dose. Bell will curate Emerge's Women, Wellness & Reclamation showcase.

Among the names already announced for Emerge 2019 are Laura Jane Grace, Andrew Bird, the Ladies of LCD Soundsystem, Cherry Glazerr, Big Freedia and Bedouine.
