At the intersection of creativity and activism is the Las Vegas music festival Emerge. The festival was established by Life is Beautiful co-founder Rehan Choudhry, who plans to unite creatives and spark meaningful conversations through its festival lineup featuring 25 musicians and nine speakers.
Located at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Emerge will take place from May 31 to June 1st, 2019.
The festival seeks to celebrate, enlighten and mobilize creatives with its themes of protest, self, brave and sex. Emerge is not shying away from social issues, they are embracing change and attempting to “spark emerging creative voices” throughout the Vegas valley.
Emerge’s speakers include David Hogg, Co-founder of March for our Lives and Patrisse Cullors, Co-founder of Black Lives Matters. The musical performers include Andrew Bird, Laura Jane Grace, Bishop Briggs, Doja Cat and more.
In their press release, Emerge cites the goal of being a “radically different experience” as the purpose of the festival’s unique lineup.
Unlike other festivals, Emerge wants to be more than an escape from reality. They are creating a space where like-minded individuals can embrace inspiration. The festival strives to engage artists through insightful discussion and a call to action.
Kastoory Kazi, VP of Marketing at A Beautiful Perspective adds, “We are a movement, bringing together creatives who are passionate about creating a better world for everyone.”
Throughout the festival’s two days, the main events will feature four individually themed immersive experiences. Every attendee will be able to attend all experiences because they are blocked one after another.
Friday night will host the theme Protest. During Protest, Emerge will be celebrating pivotal protests throughout history as well as explaining the future of protests in a digital world.
Saturday morning will host the theme of Self. The Self-experience will cover the concepts of living your truth and self-love.
After Self, Emerge will host the theme of Brave on Saturday Afternoon. Brave will feature “artist and speakers who’ve grappled with fear and bravery.”
At the end of day two, Emerge will host the theme of sex. An exploratory experience about sex positivity, consent, sexual health, kinks and dating in the digital world.
These four themes will further one’s relationship with themselves and the world around them. Kazi wrote that UNLV students can expect “a creative smorgasbord with powerful messages about a bevy of social issues.
A safer space to express themselves and be entertained and inspired by our talent and their passions for change,” from Emerge.
Early-bird tickets for Emerge are on sale for $199 on their website and normal all-access tickets will go on sale for $389 at a later date.
Emerge is a smaller festival that will cap out at 5,000 guests so it will stay true to the community experience.
Kazi also explained that Emerge will not be selling VIP tickets because they are creating an accessible festival experience for everyone.
